 Internet Resources

Over the years, I have spent a lot of time on the Internet trying to find reliable sources of information, animals, equipment, and supplies. I will try to share my favorites on this page. I will not list sources of animals here because each animal in my collection already has a photo gallery that lists the source and provides a link if one is available. Additionally, I will only list companies and products with which I have direct experience. All links will open in a new window. Just close the window and you will still have my site (and this list) up and running.

Supplies & Equipment:

  • The Bean Farm - an excellent source for all of your supply needs.
  • Big Apple Herpetological - another good source for your supply needs.
  • Superior Enterprise - a good source of shipping supplies such as snake bags and heat packs.
  • Partshelf - the cheapest source that I know of for my favorite thermometer - the Taylor model 1420. They also have many, many other models to choose from.
  • Novelty Lights - a good source for rope lighting and accessories.
  • Ryvmed Medical Products - my source for gloves & syringes.

Caging:

  • Boaphile Plastics - plastic caging by Jeff Ronne. I own many cages and racks built by Jeff. Just check out the "The Snake Den" section of my web site.
  • Animal Plastics Inc. - I first purchased a shoe box rack from them at Daytona 2003. I now own many of them. Great products and great service. Buy with confidence. You can see some photos in "The Snake Den" section of my web site.
  • Reptile Basics - thermostats and caging
  • B.A.R.R.s. - plastic caging by Doug Barr. My son keeps his corn snake in one of Doug's cages. A nice cage indeed.

Shipping:

  • FedEx - I now have a legal waiver to ship live harmless reptiles with FedEx. So far I have been very pleased with the service and I have peace of mind since it is legal shipping.
  • Delta Dash - a great service for quick airport to airport shipments

Informational:

  • Boa Classifieds - provided by Kingsnake.com - for buying & selling animals
  • Boa Forum - provided by Kingsnake.com - for asking questions and posting information about boas
  • Boa Forum - provided by Reptile Insider - for asking questions and posting information about boas
  • Dogpile - great for checking weather forecasts for shipping purposes
  • Anatomy of a boa - brought to you by Tom McCarthy
  • Autopsy of a boa - brought to you by Herman Stoeckl
  • Board of Inquiry (BOI) - provided by Fauna Classifieds - speaks to the reputation of buyers & sellers. However, before you wade into the water, remember that there are two sides to every story. This forum can be highly politicized and suffers from frequent mudslinging.
  • Feeding Boas - some good info and another viewpoint on feeding boas by Jonathan Brady
  • Rio Bravo Reptiles - Gus has taken the time to share some great info on the care & breeding of boas
  • The "Snake Measurer" Tool - Measuring snakes accurately is problematic. Here is a great tool for getting the job done right.
