Photos to accompany my feeding methods

An upright, frost-free freezer by Frigidaire - 11.3 ft3

A vacuum-packed package of frozen small rats from Cajun Mice.

Tools of the trade: an Excel spreadsheet to tell me who is eating what and how many of each size to thaw, zip-loc freezer bags to store the opened packages, and low & wide plastic containers for defrosting the rats.

The correct number of rats have been counted out. I place these in the refrigerator on Saturday night to begin the thawing process in advance of Sunday feeding night.

After removal from the refrigerator, I float the containers on hot tap water. After an hour or so, I shake the containers to flip the rats, replace the water with new hot water, and then float them for another hour. Presto - warm rats for hungry boas. For pinky rats, I just take them directly from the freezer at the last minute and place them directly in hot tap water.

Ready yet??
