 Boa Show-N-Tell

April 25, 2003     Yates Mill Elementary School     Raleigh, NC

It was one of those rare days where my school had a day off and my children were in school. So we set up an ambitious schedule with the teachers and I got to teach on my day off from teaching. We started off with a show for two classes of 3rd graders with my son Matthew assisting. My wife helped with all the shows and took these photos. After lunch with the kids, we did a show for my daughter's kindergarten class and she served as my able assistant. Immediately following that show, we hosted two 2nd grade classes with my son Aaron assisting. This one was certainly a family affair. The children were wonderful. I used Rosy, Bianca, and Jasmine for the show and they were terrific....they seemed ready to face even more children....but I was out of gas. Many of the children had the opportunity to touch a snake for the first time. I wish we could have taken photos of their faces but we were wrapped up in boas with kids all around us. When the kids got home at the end of the school day, my son delivered a package of thank you letters that the third grade had penned. I had already had a fulfilling day but those certainly provided an extra boost. I scanned three of them that you can read below. Now I need to work on a snake education program for the parents.
