General Mailing List: The general mailing list will allow me to communicate updates to those interested in the "goings on" at All Boas.
When you sign up for the mailing list, your information will be entered into a database. Your information will be kept confidential.
You will also be presented the opportunity to unsubscribe from the list with each email update that you receive. You can also
unsubscribe through the web site at any time. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Waiting Lists: The waiting lists are established for two reasons:
- To allow persons to secure an opportunity to acquire the animals that most interest them as well as the best available animals.
- To allow me to effectively communicate with those persons who are
most interested in my animals.
When you sign up for a waiting list, your information will be entered into a database.
Your information will be kept confidential. Your entry will be time stamped so the "pecking order" will be clearly established.
I won't kid you - I do reserve the right to conduct deals with special friends outside of these lists. I also reserve the right to
make deals outside of the list if someone can offer me animals I need in trade. Beyond these exceptions, I will offer animals for
sale to those on the waiting lists prior to advertising them to the general public. I will have the ability to communicate updates
to those on the lists. Each waiting list is its own mailing list which allows me to send out email updates about specific animals or
litters to the specific group of people who have expressed interest. At this time, no deposit is required to join a waiting list,
however, a refundable deposit will be required to secure your position on a
waiting list once the babies are born (see below).
You will also be presented the opportunity to unsubscribe from the list with each email update that you receive. You can also
unsubscribe through the web site at any time.
Note - if you have a change of email address, please send the change to me. I have a method of replacing your old email address while maintaining your position on the waiting lists.
Explanation of the Refundable Deposit for Babies - please read carefully
Bottom line - A refundable deposit is required to secure your position on the
waiting list once the babies are born. I have implemented a refundable deposit
system to allow the most serious buyers an opportunity to move to the top of the
waiting list. I think it is a simple & fair way to demonstrate that you have a
serious interest in the animals.
Why?
By design, the web site allows hobbyists to sign up for waiting lists from the
moment the breeding trials are set in the Fall without any commitment on their
part. It basically says, "Hey, I'm interested in what happens with this trial."
Seven months later when the babies begin to arrive, I suspect that 50% or more
will no longer be interested for a variety of reasons. This is understandable.
However, I need a way to honor the principle of a waiting list. I want to avoid
the situation whereby the most serious buyers are waiting...waiting....waiting
to make a selection stuck behind a logjam of people who are no longer interested
and may not take the time to inform me of that fact. I want the most serious
buyers to get to the top of the list and have the opportunity to choose the best
animals quickly.
I see 11 different scenarios:
1. People who signed up a long time ago and have "disappeared" (i.e. moved on to
other things)
2. Changed mind - "boa" money has been used up elsewhere
3. Changed mind - offspring not what they expected in terms of type or quality
4. Changed mind - more expensive than expected
5. Interested but want to wait and see what else is produced during the season
6. Wants to trade boas for boas
7. Wants to trade used furniture for boas
8. Wants to trade family members for boas
9. 100% certain that they want a baby from the litter but they don't have the
money
10. 100% certain that they want a baby from the litter and they have part of the
money
11. 100% certain that they want a baby from the litter and they have all the
money
Naturally, I want the people in category #11 & 10 to rise to the top of the
list. Depending on my needs, I may choose to deal with #6 immediately.
My solution:
The day I post photos of a new litter with the stats on the litter, I will send
an email to the members of that waiting list requesting a refundable
deposit (the amount will generally be about 10% of the overall value of the babies) to secure their
position on the list. I will only accept the deposit by PayPal (reason explained
below). You will have 2-4 weeks to PayPal the deposit. It depends on how long it
takes to get the babies shed, fed, and photographed. Once the babies are posted
individually on the site then I will begin the selection process.
How does the deposit affect the selection order? For example, I may have an
original list like this:
1 - Bob
2 - Larry
3 - Chris
4 - Susan
5 - Jim
Chris and Jim get their deposits in and I don't hear from the other three so the
new selection order becomes:
1 - Chris (deposit received)
2 - Jim (deposit received)
3 - Bob
4 - Larry
5 - Suzy
Once I post individual photos of the babies, Chris may decide that none of the
babies meet his criteria so he requests a refund. I can use the instant refund
feature of PayPal within 60 days of the initial deposit with no fees assessed to
either party. Jim decides to make a purchase so he now pays the remaining cost.
How long will I have to make a selection?
Right now, I'm thinking that 24 hours is enough when making the first run
through the list.
Therefore you would have 24 hours to:
1. Make a selection(s)
2. Pay the additional funds or make arrangements with me on a payment plan
3. Or request a refund of the deposit
Deposits should be sent to my PayPal account (gray@allboas.com). I will hold
this money in the account until (1) we close a deal or (2) I automatically
refund your deposit. Please don't send deposits prior to the birth of the litter
and the official opening of the deposit period. If you deposit too early and
then request a refund outside of PayPal's 60 day refund period then I will not
be responsible for reimbursing PayPal's fees.
Note - if we agree to a deal and then you fail to complete the terms then the deposit will become non-refundable.
The waiting list will get notice first when the photos and pricing are
available. Everyone on the list can begin looking them over. I will send an
email to the person in position #1 and the selection process will begin.
Thanks for your interest in my animals. Constructive feedback is encouraged.
